Criminal Cases in Covington County Courts

Access & Restrictions
The Alabama Open Records Act, chiefly Ala. Code §§ 36-12-40 and 36-12-41, supports inspection and copies of public writings, including certified copies, subject to other law. Court access is not unlimited. Juvenile legal and law-enforcement records are confidential under Ala. Code §§ 12-15-133 and 12-15-134. Youthful-offender treatment also restricts ordinary public access. Victim, minor, and sensitive identity data may be redacted.
Alabama expungement under Ala. Code §§ 15-27-1 through 15-27-21 can remove eligible records from ordinary public view after a court order. The practical check is direct: ask the Covington Circuit Clerk whether a public file exists and what portion can be inspected.
